The National Christian Homeschool Championship was founded during the 1991-92 season, with the first HomeSchool Basketball National Championships being played in March of 1992 in San Antonio, Texas. The NCHVC HomeSchool Volleyball National Championships were founded in 2009 and, as of 2024, featured a record-shattering 158 teams.
During the first nine years, Jim Leininger, Don Miller, and Alan Day each ran the tournament for 3 years.
In 2000, Tim Flatt was selected to run the tournament; Tim & his wife Cheryl were involved in the day-to-day of the NCHC through 2020.
In 2004, Tim was joined by his son Robert. Together, Tim & Rob oversaw the NCHC expansion from “just” basketball Nationals with 125 teams to adding basketball Regionals (over 540+ teams attended in 2024) and basketball districts (over 200 attended in 2024). Additionally, the NCHC added Conferences with Jeremy Bialek as the NCHC Conference Commissioner. The NCHC added Volleyball and worked with Lamar Sports (Larry Johnson) with Golf, Soccer, Cross Country (hundreds of competitors each year), & Track & Field (over 1k athletes each year) Nationals. Robert Flatt is the current executive director of the NCHC, who took over in 2014 from his father. Rob has been involved in home school athletics at every position, from a player in Oklahoma City to a coach, broadcaster, & social media director. During the 2015-16 season, Zachary Stargell joined the team in various roles. Zack’s role increased with the expansion of the NCHC Events.
